Better together.
We’ve experienced firsthand the difficulties and disappointments that come with a poorly managed manufacturing process. One situation happened to us during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. A client needed a prototype and a small batch production run, but they wanted it done locally for sovereign manufacturing. We reached out to 13 different CNC machining shops across Western Australia and a few in other states. Out of those 13, only three responded. One simply said, “It’s outside our capabilities, but please consider us next time.” Another shop asked for six weeks to come back with a price. The last one gave a quote that was four to five times the cost we were receiving from our supplier in Shenzhen, China—without offering any justification for the astronomical price. It was disheartening not just because of the lack of options, but because of the silence and lack of communication. Even if a supplier can’t do the job, there should always be an explanation and an open dialogue. There’s nothing worse than leaving someone hanging without any response. In another instance, we faced a similar issue while trying to get a small electronics run done. We were promised a six-week lead time, but that was later stretched to 12 weeks. We sat, waiting, unable to proceed. Eventually, we were told that our order had been deprioritized, which was heartbreaking. These experiences shaped our belief that high-quality manufacturing isn’t just about delivering products, but also about being transparent, communicative, and reliable. It inspired us to build an environment where communication is paramount, commitments are met, and setbacks are addressed head-on. ___ What does a great manufacturing experience look like? To us, it’s about being an extension of our client’s team. Imagine being able to walk into our facility, talk directly with the people building your product, and lean on their years of experience to refine your design. You’re not just an order number; you’re a partner in the process. A great experience is built on more than just technical capabilities. It’s about the ability to agree on quality standards, costs, and timelines upfront. It’s about open and frequent communication—not just at the beginning and the end, but throughout the entire journey. We want our clients to feel like they can count on us not just to make their parts, but to make them better with every run. ___ Western Australia has an incredible opportunity to be more than just a resource-driven economy. We’re blessed with world-class technology and innovative minds, but we’re not doing enough to bring these ideas to market locally. At Element, we’ve seen firsthand how raw materials can be transformed into high-value products that create sustainable and profitable businesses. Yet, too often, we see these opportunities slipping away due to a lack of local manufacturing capability. We believe WA has the potential to produce world-class products right here. We’ve worked with top manufacturers around the world, and there’s no reason we can’t achieve that same standard locally. We want to help WA thrive by creating high-tech, high-value products here at home and offering more opportunities for local businesses and communities. ___ Collaboration is the key. It’s not just about sharing a workload; it’s about sharing insights, solving problems together, and constantly improving. When clients and suppliers are in sync, they can make each other’s lives easier and get better results faster. Our goal is to create a culture of collaboration in WA manufacturing. If we can’t fulfill a specific requirement, we’ll introduce you to someone who can. We want to break down the barriers to collaboration and make it the norm rather than the exception. And with hands-on local collaboration, we eliminate the challenges of time zones and language barriers, which often plague offshore relationships. For us, good communication isn’t just about keeping you in the loop—it’s about creating an environment where ideas flow freely. The most successful projects are those where communication is consistent and clear. When we work with clients, we grow a rapport that leads to better products and stronger outcomes. We emphasize ongoing feedback and clear standards. If a challenge arises, we address it head-on and communicate transparently. This way, we’re not just delivering a product; we’re delivering an experience that helps improve each project we take on together. If there’s something we can’t do in-house, we don’t leave you stranded. Over the years, we’ve built a strong network of reliable suppliers both locally and internationally. If a project falls outside our capabilities, we’ll connect you directly with someone who can handle it. We’re also happy to manage the process for you, acting as a one-stop-shop to make things easier. We believe in using our network and experience to keep projects moving, no matter what challenges arise. ___ Quality is about more than just meeting a specification. It’s about maintaining consistency across every batch and every project. At Element, we’ve invested in high-quality machines and trained operators to ensure that every part meets the standards we agree on. We don’t release any parts back to the client without a thorough quality check. This way, the quality you receive from us today is the same quality you’ll receive from us next month or next year. And if there’s ever a deviation, we want to know about it. Quality is a collaborative effort, and we’re committed to getting it right every time. ___ Speed is about reliability, not rushing through the process. We’ve all been in situations where smaller jobs get bumped in favour of larger orders, which is incredibly frustrating. To us, speed means agreeing on timeframes and committing to them. If something changes, we communicate that immediately. We understand that delays happen, but we believe our clients should always be aware of what’s going on. By being transparent about our schedules and any potential hold-ups, we help you plan and stay on track. ___ We’re not just a manufacturing company; we’re an engineering team with decades of experience. We’ve worked with almost every manufacturing process—from CNC machining to plastic injection moulding, casting, and more. This background allows us to provide design-for-manufacture feedback on every project, which can significantly improve cost, speed, and quality. With each project, we offer insights from our operators on the shop floor. We document our findings in detailed reports so that our clients can make informed decisions and improve their products over time. It’s a level of feedback we haven’t always received ourselves in the past, and it’s something we’re committed to providing to our clients. ___ We promise that you’ll hear from us within 24 hours of reaching out. Delayed responses and a lack of clarity are our biggest pet peeves, and we’re determined not to pass those frustrations on to our clients. We promise consistent, high-quality communication, whether that’s in person, via video calls, or through detailed emails, with knowledgeable experts in that domain for the entirety of your project. We commit to meeting agreed-upon quality standards and delivering the best possible price and timeframe for that quality. And every project includes a complimentary design-for-manufacture feedback report, so you’re always improving. ___ We’re on this journey because we want to make local manufacturing a better experience. We’ve faced the same challenges you have—delays, unclear costs, inconsistent quality—and we wanted to address them head-on.
